Fresh Mulch, Clean Beds, Zero Effort

Professional mulch delivery and installation for homes across Stafford, Fredericksburg, and Spotsylvania. We prep the beds, lay the mulch, edge the borders, and clean up. You just enjoy the results.

Why Fresh-Cut Mulching

Not Just Mulch. A Complete Bed Refresh.

1

Full Bed Preparation

We don't just dump mulch on top of old material. Every job includes weed removal, bed cleanup, and proper edging before any mulch goes down.

2

Proper Depth, Every Time

We apply mulch at the correct 2-3 inch depth. Too thin and weeds push through. Too thick and roots suffocate. We measure, not guess.

3

Premium Mulch Only

We source from reputable Virginia suppliers. No recycled construction debris, no mystery wood. Clean, consistent, quality material that holds its color.

4

Complete Cleanup

We sweep driveways, blow walkways, and pick up every scrap. When we leave, the only evidence we were there is how great your beds look.

What's Included

Our Mulching Process, Start to Finish

How It Works

Mulching is one of the most cost-effective ways to improve your property's curb appeal and protect your plants. A fresh layer of mulch suppresses weeds, retains soil moisture, regulates root temperature, and gives your beds a clean, finished look.

Most residential mulching jobs in the Fredericksburg area are completed in a single day. Alex assesses your beds during the free walkthrough, calculates the cubic yards needed, and provides a flat-rate quote that covers everything: material, delivery, prep, installation, and cleanup.

For larger properties or commercial accounts, we can schedule multi-day installations and offer seasonal refresh programs so your beds always look their best.

Mulching FAQ

Common Mulching Questions

When is the best time to mulch in Virginia?

Late spring (April through May) is the ideal time in the Fredericksburg area. The ground has warmed enough for plant growth, and a fresh layer of mulch locks in moisture before summer heat arrives. Fall mulching (October through November) is also effective for winter root protection. We recommend mulching at least once per year.

How much mulch do I need for my beds?

It depends on the total square footage and current mulch condition. As a rough guide, one cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at 3 inches deep. Alex measures your beds during the free walkthrough and calculates the exact amount needed, so you never pay for material that goes to waste.

Should I remove old mulch before adding new?

Not always. If the old layer is under 3 inches and has broken down naturally, we can add a fresh layer on top. If it's piled too thick, matted, or showing signs of fungal growth, we remove the excess before applying new material. Alex checks this during the walkthrough and includes removal in the quote if needed.

What color mulch lasts the longest?

Dyed mulches (brown and black) hold their color significantly longer than natural bark, often 12 months or more. Natural hardwood bark fades to gray within 2-4 months. For maximum curb appeal with minimal maintenance, most of our Stafford and Fredericksburg clients choose dyed brown.

Do you mulch around trees?

Yes, but properly. We create a ring of mulch around the tree's drip line but keep it 3-4 inches away from the trunk. Piling mulch against a tree trunk (called "volcano mulching") traps moisture and causes bark rot. Many landscapers skip this detail. We don't.
